Afghan restaurant reopens in new location
May 1, 2019
Khorasan Kabob House has reopened in its new west-side location.
Owner Arian “Abdul” Wisaal and his family have turned the former Rowdy Hog Smokin’ BBQ at 923 S. Marion Road into the third home for the Afghan restaurant.
The new space will seat 50, which is about half the size of the restaurant’s previous site in a retail center at 12th Street and Garfield Avenue. Wisaal closed that location in mid-March.
He and his wife, Tamana, have spent the past few weeks painting the interior of the Marion Road site and preparing to reopen.
Diners will find the full menu with their usual favorites of butter chicken and kabuli pilau, a baked chicken dish.
“We’re adding a daily special and much more,” Wisaal said. A new feature on the weekends will be tandoori steak.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, and on Friday and Saturday nights, it will be open one hour later.
Wisaal also will continue to sell Afghan carpets.
He started his business as Global Village Cafe in 2005 on 41st Street across from the Western Mall.
