Arts Connect mixers kick off May 25
From staff reports
Members of the arts community in Sioux Falls are invited to a networking mixer Thursday, May 25.
The Sioux Falls Arts Council plans to hold quarterly Arts Connect mixers to foster communication within the arts community. Each gathering will have a different theme.
The first mixer will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Prairie Berry East Bank, 322 E. Eighth St. The theme is the formation of a consortium to help different types of artists and arts organizations collaborate.
“There is a significant lack of communication and connectivity within our local arts community; our new focus on arts coordination and support will help foster that,” said Kara Dirkson, executive director of the SFAC.
“We’d really like to see Sioux Falls embrace the concept of ‘big arts,’ which means that all of the arts — music, live theater, dance, literary and visual arts — are important parts of our arts ecosystem,” Dirkson said.
Arts Connect mixers are free to attend and open to anyone involved or interested in the local arts community.
