Boutique will move to new downtown space

July 1, 2019

The Bloom Room Boutique is moving from the south end of downtown to a new space on the north end.

The business will move from The Nordic Hall at 218 W. 13th St. to The Cascade, the new mixed-use building on North Phillips Avenue.

Owner Kelly Donovan started the boutique a year ago after selling personalized jewelry under the name J Bloom Designs for five years. She met many women who encouraged her to open a store and ended up renting space at The Nordic Hall for jewelry events and parties after learning about the building from the owners of MK Threads, who have since moved their boutique to Jones421.

“And a few months into it, I decided to do home decor and maybe clothes, so it was kind of baby steps growing into it,” Donovan said.

“When I heard about The Cascade, I did a little research and put some feelers out (and decided to go) from my little part-time boutique for full time. I’m so excited for the opportunity there. I just think it’s going to be fantastic. It has so much to offer for people who live there.”

The boutique is leasing an 800-square-foot space on the first-floor boardwalk, which will include Candy Cloud Factory, La Luna Cafe, The Root Cellar convenience store and Severance Brewing Co.

“This will allow her to better cater to the community and display her inventory,” said Alexis Konstant of Lloyd Cos., who leased the space.

“It’s a relatively small space, so it’s not overwhelming, and it’s a very efficient floor plan.”

The Bloom Room Boutique sells home decor, clothing and jewelry, and plans to open later this summer.

“I just want it to be a fun place where you can get everything you need,” Donovan said. “I’m really excited to do events with them (the other Cascade businesses) and partner up and do fun things to bring people down there.”
