March 13, 2018

Camping World is coming to Sioux Falls.

The nation’s largest network of RV-centric retail locations acquired Sioux Falls-based Spader’s RV Center, which has been in business since 1964. It was founded by Duane Spader as Spader Camping Center in Brookings and moved to Sioux Falls in 1971. Spader retired from the industry in 2010 and sold the business to Al Spencer.

Camping World also acquired New Prairie RV Southtown in Worthing and currently operates an RV SuperCenter in the Rapid City area.

“We remain focused on brand expansion and top-notch customer service, as we continue to grow in the South Dakota market with the successful establishments of Spader’s RV Center and New Prairie RV Southtown joining the Camping World family,” said Marcus Lemonis, chairman of Camping World Holdings. “We look forward to providing customers with the high level of service they deserve and fulfilling all of their outdoor, camping and RV needs, from offering thousands of accessories to quality RV sales and service.”

“We are pleased to expand our dealership footprint in this market while maintaining both companies’ commitment to superior sales and service,” said Brent Moody, chief operating officer. “We continue to successfully execute our expansion strategy, and we believe adding both Spader’s RV and New Prairie RV to our dealership network will strengthen our position.”

Camping World is based in Illinois and sells recreational vehicles, RV and camping gear, and provides service for RVs.
