Capital Services plans for new east-side headquarters

Oct. 14, 2019

Capital Services will move to a new office in the Dawley Farm Village development.

The business, which provides origination, management and servicing of national credit card programs in partnership with client banks, started in 1998 and has offices in Sioux Falls and Brookings.

The new location will be a two-story, 48,000-square-foot building on 7.7 acres the business purchased from the Dawley family south of 18th Street.

“As a part of our future planning, we’ve been evaluating our long-term growth and changing workplace needs in addition to where our employees live and the amenities that are important to them,” president and CEO Chuck Hendrickson said.

“We’ve looked at a number of properties and found Dawley Farms to be a good fit.”

The building will be larger than the current 36,000-square-foot office at 500 E. 60th St. N. Capital Services has about 220 employees in Sioux Falls and Brookings, with the majority in Sioux Falls. The new building “is designed to meet long-term growth objectives,” Hendrickson said.

In considering locations, the company looked at where employees live, he added.

“A significant amount of them live east of I-29,” he said. “Amenities for our employees was another big consideration, and the Dawley Farms area offers a variety of access for eating, shopping, the bike trail and more.”

Bringing that many employees is a bonus for Dawley Farms, too, said Raquel Blount of Lloyd Cos., who represents the property.

“It just brings an additional level of activity that benefits everyone in the development,” she said. “We’re really excited that Capital Services has chosen to come to Dawley Farms and know the employees will enjoy being close to so many places to shop, eat and access services.”

The building is being designed by TSP and built by Lloyd Cos.

“Our current plan is to get footings in before frost and continue building through the winter,” Hendrickson said.

The hope is to move in the last quarter of 2020.
