HARTFORD — Golfers at Central Valley Golf Club will discover a brand-new clubhouse this season.
“We completely demolished the old clubhouse and built a new one close to the existing one,” GreatLIFE director of golf Jason Sudenga said. “It looks fabulous.”
The new clubhouse is similar in size to the old one but much more modern. With multiple televisions, a stocked new pro shop and a covered patio, “it’s a neat atmosphere we’ve created for golfers and the community,” Sudenga said.
Duffers Bar & Grill serves breakfast, appetizers including wings and quesadillas, pizza and sandwiches including hamburgers and hot dogs.
“Chislic has been really popular,” Sudenga added. “We think it’s going to be one of the nicest facilities for food and beverage in Hartford, so we’re already talking about expanding the menu. I think it’s going to be a place where people just come to eat, plus hang out after a round of golf.”
Central Valley itself is “very playable for all types of golfers,” he said.
Some trees are being removed to make the course easier for average golfers. There’s a ladies’ league on Tuesday night and men’s league on Thursday. Central Valley offers free clinics for all ages, including family nights on Sundays.
As GreatLIFE members have discovered the course, rounds have increased significantly.
“Many of our members hadn’t heard of it,” Sudenga said. “But if you’re on the west side of Sioux Falls, it’s a 10- to 15-minute drive to get out there. I live on the west side, and it’s quicker to get to Central Valley than Willow Run.”
