Chick N Max begins work for west-side restaurant

April 19, 2023

Construction has started off-site for the new Chick N Max restaurant that will be at Lake Lorraine, and work is underway for Starbucks and Dairy Queen.

The walls for the prefabricated building for Chick N Max are being built at Fullerton Building Systems in Worthington, Minnesota, a spokesman for the fast-casual restaurant chain said.

Brad and Max Reinke of Pierre, the father-and-son franchisees for the Kansas-based chain, hope to open the restaurant in early August, if not sooner if all goes well, the spokesman said. Chick N Max will be at 2201 S. Lorraine Place, near the Hyatt Place hotel.

The 2,400-square-foot restaurant will have a drive-thru and seating for 50 to 60 diners.

Chick N Max is touted as the home of “The Better Chicken Sandwich.” It specializes in almond wood-smoked chicken and wings, chef-crafted sandwiches and fried tenders.

Lake Lorraine is busy with construction for new food and drink options.

Along Marion Road, west of the Chick N Max site, the walls are up for a stand-alone Starbucks, and foundation work has started to the north of Starbucks for a DQ Chill & Grill that will replace one a few blocks away along West 26th Street.
