Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Dunn Brothers Coffee has opened a second location in Sioux Falls. The new coffee shop, which also serves pastries, breakfast sandwiches, naan pizzas, wraps and sandwiches, is the first business to open in the new Firehouse 42 development at 12th Street and Ellis Road. It’s open daily.

The development also will be the third site for Little Tykes University, which was founded locally by Corri Poore. He plans to serve up to 100 kids from birth through school age. The hope is to open before the end of the year.

LSS and the Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls are moving forward with their integration. The boards of both organizations have approved a plan to transition the Multi-Cultural Center and its programs, assets and goodwill into LSS on Oct. 1. A full transition is expected by the end of the year.

Amazon plans to begin initial operations at its new Sioux Falls fulfillment center this month, ramping up and launching into next year. In June, Amazon announced the facility would open later than planned but didn’t give a timeline.

A new business features a carnival food favorite: mini-doughnuts. Donut Envy is a pop-up business that features State Fair equipment and products. The prepared mini-doughnuts are baked fresh on-site in an oven. In addition to the traditional cinnamon-and-sugar, they come in a variety of flavors. Donut Envy is available for public and private events.

Scherer Inc., a Tea-based manufacturer of grain processing solutions, is building a new headquarters in Foundation Park in northwest Sioux Falls. The $24 million building will include 90,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 15,000 square feet of office, with enough land to nearly double in size as needed.

Hy-Vee at 26th and Sycamore has replaced its Market Grille with Wahlburgers. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The bar will still be open and serve beer and wine, and breakfast will continue to be served in the space every day.

The owners of the downtown event space Convolo are adding a location. The new venue, called Casetta, is taking bookings beginning in December and will be on 37th west of Phillips in the building currently occupied by Houndstooth House. The interior design firm will be moving next door. Casetta will host gatherings such as holiday parties, showers, rehearsal dinners and corporate events. It can seat up to 50 guests.

Extensive smoke damage after a fire in the kitchen at Cherry Creek Grill at 3104 E. 26th St. has closed the longtime restaurant indefinitely.

Diners will be able to grill their own Korean barbecue at the table when a new restaurant opens next year in Sioux Falls. Johnny Phung, who owns two Envy Nails & Spa salons in the city, has signed a franchise agreement with Denver-based Dae Gee Korean BBQ. Phung hasn’t signed a lease yet, but he expects to open the restaurant early next year on the city’s west side.

Cooks & Bakers Kitchen is planning to open later this year in a new retail center at Dawley Farm Village. “It will be a mix of high-end cookware and bakeware with wine and beverage accessories, many items for home entertaining and gifting,” owner Joanne Bogus said. She’ll also offer cooking classes in a demonstration kitchen.

The Crossroads development at 12th Street and Interstate 29 is the latest area to see a new Starbucks. The location, which is open daily, features a drive-thru, indoor and outdoor seating and a pickup counter inside for mobile orders.
