Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Boss’ Pizza & Chicken has taken over the Castaways Bar & Grill space inside the Ramada Hotel & Suites at 1301 W. Russell St. It’s the eighth location for Boss’ Pizza and the third in Sioux Falls.

Fit Revolution Nutrition has moved from 1819 S. Minnesota Ave. to 2123 S. Minnesota Ave. in the Southway Center. The nutritional drink shop, which Jodi Forde started five years ago, serves Herbalife products, including healthy smoothies and energy drinks, and full-meal replacement drinks.

After losing its home, Tre Ministries has moved into a new space closer to downtown. The nonprofit, which is open to all faiths and serves as a gathering space for college students and young adults, is leasing the former Brennan Rock & Roll Academy at 11th and Walts from Black Hills Federal Credit Union. The owner of its original home, the former Tre Lounge at 33rd Street and Spring Avenue, has listed that property for sale, precipitating the move. Tre also rents out spaces in the building to businesses or organizations for meetings and gatherings.

Augustana University plans to begin offering two versions of a Master of Business Administration, or MBA degree. One will allow undergraduates to add a year following their four-year experience to obtain an MBA and will begin in the fall of 2020. The other is a two-year option designed for working professionals that will start in the summer of 2021.

The new golf and entertainment business Great Shots will open Friday at the Sanford Sports Complex. The three-story, 54,000-square-foot facility features 60 individual climate-controlled hitting bays, two restaurant and bar spaces, six event rooms and a kids’ activity center with a climbing wall. Great Shots also is home to the Sanford POWER Golf Academy and the Austad’s Tour Fitting Experience. It offers walk-in options and memberships, as well as space for meetings and parties.

Sioux Falls-based Meta Financial Group Inc. plans to sell its community bank division to Central Bank, which is based in Storm Lake, Iowa. The sale includes MetaBank’s nine community bank branches in South Dakota and Iowa, as well as $270 million in deposits and $265 million in loans. The branches will be rebranded as Central Bank following the closing of the transaction, which is expected late in the first calendar quarter of 2020.

Businesses affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding Sept. 9-26 can now access resources through a recovery center. The U.S. Small Business Administration and the South Dakota Small Business Development Center have opened the recovery center out of their offices at the Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship, 2329 N. Career Ave. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. No appointment is necessary, and services are provided for free.

The new Avera Addiction Care Center will begin treating patients Dec. 10. The inpatient treatment center is on the east end of the Avera on Louise campus at 69th and Louise. It offers 32 private rooms for patients.

Alicia Engelking has started Boutique 818 as an online venture with occasional pop-up shops, including one that’s open the next two weekends at Park Place Center on West 41st Street. The boutique carries women’s clothing that’s “comfortable casual wear,” she said, along with shoes, accessories and purses. Clothing sizes range from small to 3X. The website is shop-boutique818.com.

Ulta Beauty has opened its second store in Sioux Falls. The new location is on the east side of town at Dawley Farm Village. Ulta sells cosmetics, products for skin and hair care, and fragrances. The Dawley Farm store also includes a full-service salon with hair, skin, brow and makeup services. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

A nearly $200 million plan to redevelop more than 7 acres of the downtown Sioux Steel site will include a seven-story Canopy by Hilton hotel, a nine-story mixed-use building and a parking ramp surrounded by 100 apartments. The 217-room hotel will include a bar overlooking Falls Park, a coffee shop, a restaurant connected to a pedestrian alley, a ballroom that will seat up to 500 people and multiple smaller meeting spaces to host conventions or corporate events. The hotel is scheduled to break ground in the spring and open in 2022.

The Nebraska-based gastropub Tavern 180 has opened at Prairie Hills Galleria at 69th and Western. It’s the fourth location for the restaurant, which was founded in 2016 in Omaha. The 3,000-square-foot space can accommodate 115 people in the dining area and the bar, which has a full liquor license. Tavern 180 serves lunch and dinner daily.

Escapades has opened smash rooms at 3509 S. Norton Ave. People can use hammers, bats, rackets and more to smash items in three themed rooms: The Dark Alley, The MMA Fighting Cage and Graffiti Lane. It’s open daily.

Sanford Health has opened a walk-in clinic at the Sanford Sports Complex. The location at 4000 N. Hercules Ave. also includes Orthopedic Fast Track services. It’s open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Sioux Falls-based Campbell Supply Co. is becoming part of Runnings Inc., a family-owned retailer that started in Marshall, Minn. Runnings will acquire the seven Campbell’s stores and the Sioux Falls-based home office and distribution center at the end of the year.

Home furnishings superstore At Home will open its first Sioux Falls store Jan. 29. The retailer is leasing the former Shopko at 1601 W. 41st St. and will occupy the entire 90,500-square-foot space.
