Consignment boutique to close with owner’s retirement

April 29, 2019

A fashion consignment boutique is closing after 18 years in business.

Boutique Jillian owner Nancy Ciofalo is retiring.

The final day will be May 30 for the store at 4301 S. Racket Drive, near 49th Street and Louise Avenue. Until then, hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The boutique carries name-brand women’s clothing and accessories. At one time, it also sold consignment furniture and home decor.

Clothing and shoes are marked at 25 percent off, and jewelry is 20 percent off. Those markdowns will increase as the closing date approaches, Ciofalo said. Remaining merchandise will be returned to the owners or donated to charities such as Dress for Success and Children’s Inn, she said.

Ciagalo said the business is still profitable, but her lease is up at the end of May, her husband is retired and she’s ready to travel.

“in the last three to four years, I think my sales have been hurt by the internet,” she said. “And now consignment is online too. We weren’t getting the millennials to come in here.”
