David Jones Fashions is adding a store at The Empire Mall.

The men’s apparel store opened at The Bridges at 57th in 2007.

The new location at the mall most recently was Wilsons Leather.

“We’re adding a store at the mall with the idea of people having more exposure,” owner David Jones said.

“There’s a big trend toward shopping online … and I think it’s because a lot of people believe customer service is dead. And if you believe customer service is dead, you haven’t been to David Jones Fashions.”

The mall store will have a price point “that is both affordable and with some high-end merchandise for those who want it,” Jones said.

The hope is that customers looking for additional options then will visit The Bridges store.

The mall location will have a large section for wedding apparel, which has been a solid area of growth for the business, Jones said.

For less than the price of a rental, David Jones Fashions sells tuxedos and suits for weddings, he said.

“Our wedding business has really taken our whole business to the next level,” Jones said. “Summer in men’s retail has always been a place for most businesses where there’s a dip. There are no Christmas parties. They’re wearing shorts instead of suits. And we’ve found the wedding business for us over the last few years has been amazing.”

The store also carries sizes in skinny, slim, modern, athletic, and big and tall, “so there’s no limits to the sizes anyone can get,” he added.

“We’ve dressed actors, NBA athletes, and a lot of people outside of Sioux Falls come and do business with us, so we’re just excited.”

The hope is to open the mall store before Thanksgiving.
