DIY workshop boutique opens this week

From staff reports

Do-it-yourselfers: This is for you.

The national DIY concept AR Workshop opens this week in the retail shops on the east side of the Western Mall.

Caleb and Tracy Hinkkanen own the franchise of the national chain.

“The space is everything I dreamed it would be,” she said. “From the moment I stepped through the door, I knew that this was where thousands of memories and beautiful pieces would be created, and to watch it all come together gives me goosebumps. I’m humbled to be able to bring this amazing concept to Sioux Falls, and we can’t wait to celebrate on Friday.”

Customers can register for workshops or book special events to create custom home decor pieces. Projects include framed and plank wood signs, canvas wall hangings, pillow and chalkboard art.

The lounge-like design includes a bar and small boutique.

The grand opening will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 22. There will be hourly giveaways, music, drinks, snacks and a grand prize featuring a workshop for six people and $30 to spend. To see more, click here.

AR Workshop is the first of two DIY chains opening in the market. Board & Brush is scheduled to open early next month at 26th Street and Marion Road.
