Dog lovers: Kidtopia is calling your name

Whether your little one is a dog lover or hopeful prospective dog owner, Kidtopia has a new line that makes an adorable addition.

Owner Sheryl Nelson has added a collection from Douglas, one of the oldest U.S. plush toy companies, that has a line of “rescue dog” stuffed animals.

It features mixed breeds typically found at animal shelters.

The stuffed toys sell for $24.99 and all proceeds benefit the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.

Nelson also was the winner of a drawing at the New York Toy Fair earlier this year that allows her to make an additional $500 donation.

To celebrate, Kidtopia is hosting dog-related activities today at both the Dawley Farm Village and The Bridges at 57th locations. Kids can make a dog craft, color a picture to win a stuffed Douglas rescue dog and enjoy a pajama party at 6 p.m. with “puppy chow” and the movie “Martha Speaks – Ain’t Nothing but a Pound Dog.”

Bring a pillow or blanket if you plan to attend.

“We feel it’s a great way for Kidtopia and our customers to also contribute to the Humane Society. I love this opportunity for all kids of the family to benefit from these stuffed animals — even the four-legged kids,” Nelson said.
