The holidays mean snowy nights, seasonal sights and spending time with loved ones. If you’re looking for fun things to do with extended family while they’re in town, we have everything you need for this holiday season. Check out our top five holiday sights and add them to your must-see list!

1. Winter Wonderland at Falls Park

A favorite holiday tradition for both locals and guests, Winter Wonderland at Falls Park, is a sight you can’t miss. Hundreds of thousands of lights are strung everywhere you look, and synced with holiday music from a local radio station. Pile in the car, bring some hot chocolate, and prepare for a truly dazzling experience.

Insider tip: For an even better view, see it all from our five-story viewing tower! Before you leave, be sure to check out the Visitor Information Center for holiday gifts for friends and family.

2. Downtown Sioux Falls

The holidays are a special time for DTSF. You’ll find the streets decked with lights, decor and events all season long. Every business and organization celebrates differently, but it all contributes to a truly wonderful holiday experience. From concerts at the Washington Pavilion to theatrical performances at the Orpheum Theater, you’ll find that everything is centered around the holidays.

3. Cathedral of St. Joseph

It’s hard to miss one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Stepping inside during the holiday season is absolutely stunning, as you will find it fully decorated and a nativity at the front. Both guided and self-guided tours are available. Call 605-336-7392 for information. Catch a taping of the annual Christmas at the Cathedral concert at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 25 on KELO-TV.

4. Holiday lights and lanes

It wouldn’t be the holidays without light displays, and Falls Park is only the beginning! Sioux Falls has more than 30 holiday light and lane displays for your entertainment! With themes such as Penguin Lane, Star of the East and Candy Cane Lane, these shows will delight everyone in your group.

5. Sioux Falls Santa

There are many places across Sioux Falls where you have the opportunity for a Santa sighting with your family. See where he will be throughout the city this holiday season.

Bonus: Great Bear Recreation Park

Hit the slopes at Great Bear to take full advantage of the winter weather. Enjoy the view from the ski lift as you make your way to the top, and then ski or snowboard your way back down. Looking for something a little less challenging? Give the tubing hill a try! Mark your calendars for the return of Lazer Tubing.
