Flyboy Donuts adds trailer for events, more service

This piece is presented by Flyboy Donuts.

Flyboy Donuts is going mobile.

The popular doughnut shop at The Bridges at 57th will use a trailer to serve more customers. It’s equipped with everything needed to serve coffee and doughnuts.

“With the shop getting very busy on some days, it will be great to offer our products at other locations throughout Sioux Falls,” owner Ben Duenwald said. “Even though we are already in 13 convenience stores besides our main shop, we want to be more convenient for customers that live and work downtown or on the north, east and west side of Sioux Falls.”

While Flyboy still expects to open a second location, the mobile approach will help gauge demand before opening another store, he said.

“We anticipate having some regular spots to park on a regular basis in other parts of town, and we also will do some events,” Duenwald said.

The trailer also provides a chance to test menu items. Flyboy will serve cold-pressed coffee made with its artisan-roasted Flyboy coffee and seasonal treats including strawberry shortcake, s’mores and peaches-and-cream doughnuts.

“We have tons of ideas for new doughnuts and are excited to roll some out,” Duenwald said. “We also are excited for more people to try our coffee. I think they’ll be surprised that you can get a really great cup of coffee made with our fresh-roasted beans sourced from all over the world for a great price.”

Like other food trucks, locations and offerings will be posted on the business’ Facebook page.

The trailer will debut at the Dakota Alliance soccer tournament for five days starting June 23 at Yankton Trail Park.
