Forever 21 is coming to Sioux Falls.

The trendy apparel and accessory store has filed plans with the city to open at The Empire Mall.

It’s going into a space near the food court that for years was The Limited and most recently was a temporary space for clothing store Ragstock, which has relocated within the mall.

Assuming a typical construction schedule, Forever 21 likely will open later this year.

The company has been in a fast-growth mode, as the retail market has favored its lower-priced fashion with merchandise that rotates quickly through the store. It’s the nation’s fifth-largest specialty retailer.

The closest location to Sioux Falls is in Omaha.
