Giving Back recognizes businesses and organizations that are helping our communities.

National Wild Turkey Federation, East Dakota Chapter

Members of the National Wild Turkey Federation, East Dakota Chapter delivered turkeys to The Banquet in time for Thanksgiving. The NWTF partners with Target to provide the turkeys for the feeding ministry.

Spoke-N-Sport and Club FAB

Spoke-N-Sport and Club FAB sponsored the annual Cranksgiving ride. Cyclists rode around town and bought food items for Feeding South Dakota. They collect three barrels full of items.

Midco/Midco Foundation

Midco has awarded 65 nonprofits, schools and government organizations in the four states it serves with Midco Foundation grants. In total, the foundation awarded $105,000 in grant money this fall, with $34,600 going to organizations in South Dakota. Recipients in the Sioux Falls area were Survivors Joining for Hope, Feeding South Dakota, South Dakota HDSA, DakotAbilities, Ronald McDonald House of South Dakota and REACH Literacy. Applications for spring grants are available Dec. 1 at Midco.com/foundation.

Northwestern Mutual/Northwestern Mutual Foundation

Northwestern Mutual donated more than 40 toys to Ronald McDonald House of South Dakota in November. They will be used in the house’s “dream room” full of colors, toys and fun. Kids and siblings staying there are able to pick an item from the room during their stay. Northwestern also ran in The Banquet’s Run for Food and hosted a social media fundraiser benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand on Giving Tuesday. The Northwestern Mutual Foundation also will be awarding 25 college scholarships to childhood cancer survivors and 10 college scholarships to childhood cancer siblings for the 2019-20 school year. Applications are accepted until Jan. 30, 2019.

Casey’s General Store

During November, Casey’s General Store is hosting its annual “dog tag” promotion to raise funds and awareness for Hope for the Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for veterans, service members and military families. Customers are invited to help by purchasing a “dog tag” for $1. In six years, the stores and  its customers have raised almost $4 million for the organization.
