The new golf and entertainment business Great Shots will open Dec. 6 at the Sanford Sports Complex.
The three-story, 54,000-square-foot complex features 60 individual climate-controlled hitting bays, two restaurant and bar spaces, six event rooms and a kids’ activity center with a climbing wall.
Great Shots also is home to the Sanford POWER Golf Academy and the Austad’s Tour Fitting Experience.
“We’re excited to finally welcome guests to Great Shots,” general manager Jonathan Buckley said in a statement.
“This is an incredible entertainment venue for everyone to ‘golf, eat and enjoy.’ Parents will love our family-friendly environment, while adults of all ages will appreciate our unbelievable food and drink menus in our restaurant and sports bar.”
Each bay can accommodate up to 10 people. Guests will use real golf clubs and hit real golf balls out to a 250-yard-long-by-90-yard-wide artificial turf field. Using radar-based technology, golfers are able to track their shots, including club-head speed, exit velocity and distance. Through BigShots software’s game mode, players have several options to turn their golf experience into an interactive video game.
“Great Shots fulfills one of the missions of the Sanford Sports Complex by providing a place with activities the entire family can enjoy,” said Kevin Lampe, president of Sanford Sports. “It is a dynamic addition to the entire region that will provide entertainment year-round.”
Troon, a golf management, development and marketing company, manages Great Shots.
Great Shots offers walk-in options and memberships, as well as space for meetings and parties. Through a partnership with GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness, those members will receive half off bay rental. To book a private party or event, call 605-312-7950 or visit greatshots.golf.
