GreatLIFE Suburban Lanes to close for renovations
June 11, 2019
The GreatLIFE Suburban Lanes Family Fun Center will close temporarily starting Saturday for renovations that will focus on the bowling lanes.
The project will include the installation of new lane flooring and automatic bumpers.
“We’re trying to update everything that’s involved with bowling, which is obviously one of the main attractions of our facility,” co-manager Bob Elrod said.
Elrod said the renovations are the latest in a string of updates that have addressed other areas of the facility since GreatLIFE bought the bowling center at 2621 S. Spring Ave. in mid-2016.
It now has a 1950s theme, including retro images of Sioux Falls. There also are golf simulators and arcade games.
Since becoming part of GreatLIFE, the amusement center has seen a large uptick in visitors, Elrod said.
“It’s been phenomenal,” he said. “We’ve been way more busy, and these renovations will only add to the experience of our customers.”
Suburban Lanes is planning to reopen in mid-July.
GreatLIFE members looking to bowl during the renovation period can visit either Empire Bowl or Sport Bowl. Members can bowl two games for free at both locations Sunday through Friday from open until 6 p.m.
