Guilt-free holiday awaits with a workout that helps give back

Nov. 26, 2019

This paid piece is sponsored by GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness.

Working out might not be the first thing that comes to mind on Thanksgiving, but there are plenty of benefits — including a way to burn some calories while giving back.

Get in a nice mix of cardio and strength training a couple of hours before the big meal, and your body will be able to more easily handle all the sugars ahead.

GreatLIFE will be staffed at Woodlake and the Performance Center from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and Great Kids also will be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. So let them burn off energy before the big meal – and keep them out of the kitchen – by bringing them with you for a workout.

At the Performance Center, trainer Tanner Waddell will lead a 9 a.m. boot camp that’s $10 for a drop-in workout or free if you donate a winter coat, snow pants or a set of hat and gloves.

Other group fitness options include an 8:30 a.m. PiYo class at the Performance Center and the following classes at Woodlake:

  • 7:30 a.m.: Cycling with Val.
  • 8 a.m.: Hot yoga sculpt with Kyla — it’s free!
  • 9 a.m.: Zumba with Missy.

And you can always access the 24-hour facilities for an after-meal workout. GreatLIFE will resume regular staffed hours on Black Friday.

And speaking of Black Friday, this year it delivers tons of value for GreatLIFE members. Take a look at how you’ll be able to save Friday and Saturday at any GreatLIFE facility:
