Gustaf’s Greenery is closing after 33 years in business.

Siblings Pat and Jean Gustaf will shut the doors Dec. 27.

Jean Gustaf said her brother has a terminal illness, and she plans to find a job, even though she’s 72 and could retire.

Pat Gustaf’s history in the floral business goes back to the early 1970s when he opened a store in the Western Mall. After closing the business, leaving Sioux Falls and then returning, the siblings opened their shop in January 1986, Jean Gustaf said.

The Gustafs lease the building at 1020 S. Minnesota Ave., so she isn’t sure what its future might be.
