What brought you to Sioux Falls?

My wife and work.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

I love the community and being close to family. Both sides of my family are from the Brandon area, and many of them are still here.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

Working with business owners in and around the state. I learn a lot from a diverse group of people in a lot of industries.

How did you get connected to your industry?

Fischer Rounds & Associates keeps their corporate office in Pierre, where I grew up. In college, I pursued an internship at State Farm Insurance and really enjoyed it. So when I graduated from NDSU – Go, Bison! – it was an easy transition to work for a company I was familiar with.

What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?

I do not enjoy watching sports on television. At all.

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

I enjoy working with individuals on a personal level. Sometimes, a little advice and guidance is all a person needs to flourish and in turn make a difference for others. I’ve been fortunate to have extraordinary mentors throughout my life, and I think everyone deserves the same opportunity.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

I like triathlons – the short ones. Right now, Sioux Falls does not have a great setup to train in the winter months for a race. I will say, for our size, Sioux Falls has a lot of diversity in terms of businesses, and I struggled to answer this, ha-ha.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

With two kids – one on the way in April – an extremely happy wife, a new home – on the way this fall – and in my same job, with advancement, of course!
