It’s official: Dave & Buster’s to resume construction

Sept. 24, 2021

It’s official: Dave & Buster’s is back on track to open in Sioux Falls.

Van Buskirk Cos. and Friessen Development Inc., developers of Lake Lorraine, announced Dave & Buster’s official confirmation to resume construction at the Lake Lorraine development.

The original project completion was set for mid-2020, but work was paused because of the COVID-19 pandemic as Dave & Buster’s suspended all construction projects. The building’s shell on the east side of Lake Lorraine was completed in early 2020 and is awaiting the interior build-out and exterior finishes.

Now, the opening is expected to be in early 2022.

“The project has been the culmination of more than five years promoting the Sioux Falls market to Dave & Buster’s, receiving their interest in a location here and now reviving that interest as a great community to pick back up after the 2020 halt,” Van Buskirk said in a news release.

“Dave & Buster’s is extremely excited about its Sioux Falls location and becoming a part of the great Sioux Falls community,” said Pete Thornfield, vice president brand marketing at Dave & Buster’s.

According to co-developer Mike Van Buskirk, the opening of Dave & Buster’s will bring another benchmark to the development with the added restaurant and a place of indoor recreation.

“We’re building a destination at Lake Lorraine, a retail and entertainment destination, and this adds to that vision. We’re looking forward to celebrating their opening day and the excitement that it will bring to the area.”
