Your favorite after-work stop in south Sioux Falls now can become your go-to lunch spot.

JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars has started serving lunch, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

“It’s been fun to see people discovering it and to introduce some of the new offerings from the kitchen,” owner Tom Slattery said.

“We put some customer favorites on the lunch menu, added some new options and included some of our JJ’s Bar staples.”

The lunch menu includes signature JJ’s fish tacos – three soft-shell Mahi Mahi tacos served with fresh slaw and lime crema – in addition to the Italian Delight sandwich, made with prosciutto and salami, pickled peppers, artichoke hearts, shredded lettuce and cracked black pepper vinaigrette.

There’s also a JJ’s seafood melt, pulled pork sandwich and the Salad Nicoise – tuna with fresh tossed mixed greens, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, cucumber and white wine vinaigrette.

“Plus, you can still order our popular burgers and salads, Jean’s chicken salad or an appetizer like chislic and fries,” Slattery said. “As the weather improves and we can take full advantage of our patio, we’re excited to give people who live and work nearby a great new choice for lunch.”

The upcoming month is filled with fun reasons to stop by JJ’s in the evening too.

June 4: Beer Bourbon & Beef

This new annual event features the band GoodRoad and will benefit the Teddy Bear Den. It runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday rain or shine and will be held under a canopy on the north side of JJ’s.

The name says it all: You’ll eat some beef, taste some bourbon, sip some beer, listen to music and perhaps smoke a cigar.

“We’re excited to have some fun for a great cause,” Slattery said. “Tickets are required to attend, so make sure you sign up early.”

June 5: JJ’s Free Wine Expo

Load up on wines for your summer gatherings from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in JJ’s event room, where up to 40 wines will be on display.

“These local reps know their stuff, so this is a great opportunity to engage, ask questions and learn about new wines,” Slattery said.

When you’re done, head over for a meal or beverage at JJ’s Bar.

June 17: Craft Beer Fest

JJ’s will join with the South Dakota Brewers Guild to present this brand-new event from noon to 3 p.m. June 17.

The Craft Beer Fest will be  in the north parking lot and feature beers made in South Dakota by Guild members. Proceeds from the event will benefit the organization.

“This is a perfect Father’s Day gift,” Slattery said. “There’s a lot of brewing talent locally, and we’re excited to showcase it.”

Samples are unlimited, and guests are encouraged to bring a designated driver. Tickets for drivers are only $10. Food trucks will be available, and food also will be served in JJ’s Bar. Ax-throwing also will be open at JJ’s Axes & Ales.

“There’s also a great VIP experience available, including specialty beers for VIPs only, a free charcuterie and snack spread, single-barrel whiskey sampling, panel discussions with brewers and even designated bathrooms and air-conditioned space for VIPs only,” Slattery said.

“We think people are going to love this Craft Beer Fest and look forward to it becoming an annual tradition.”
