Keller Williams to build larger office

By Jodi Schwan

Keller Williams Realty Sioux Falls is planning a new two-story office.

The 23,000-square-foot building will be constructed at 6300 S. Connie Ave., near 69th Street and Louise Avenue.

Veteran real estate agent Tony Ratchford brought Keller Williams to the Sioux Falls market five years ago. After starting with four agents, it has grown to 231 agents. They are split between multiple offices and are out of space, he said.

“We’ve been looking for maybe a year, and we put it on hold, and this piece of property came on the market, and we liked it a lot,” he said. “It will accommodate 270 to 300 agents, so that’s our expected growth in the next year or two.”

About one-third of the agents work virtually, he said. The rest will use physical offices. A training center included in the new building can accommodate 150 people.

The building itself “will be pretty simple but high-tech and geared around our style of business, which is keep your overhead down and focus,” Ratchford said.

It will include a patio for entertaining clients or holding employee barbecues.

When he brought the Keller Williams model to Sioux Falls, the goal was to reach 240 agents.

“I whispered it to someone and they said, ‘You’re crazy,’ so I quit telling anyone,” Ratchford said. “We’re right on target to hit our numbers.”

Ratchford hasn’t determined when construction will start, but the building will take 10 months to a year to finish.
