The KFC on Kiwanis Avenue that closed recently has a new franchise owner and is expected to reopen sometime this week, according to a corporate spokesperson.

Earlier this month, a sign posted on the door indicated that the restaurant at 300 S. Kiwanis Ave. was “closed until further notice,” and KFC removed the location from its corporate website.

According to KFC, the new owner is Todd Stewart, who has been a franchisee for 25 years. The Stewart Restaurant Group is based in Oregon and owns almost 90 KFC restaurants across 14 states.

The other two KFC restaurants in Sioux Falls are owned by another franchise group.
