Kohl’s begins accepting Amazon returns as a way to drive store traffic

July 10, 2019

Amazon shoppers now can bring their returns to the two Sioux Falls Kohl’s locations.

The new service started this month at Kohl’s stores nationwide.

Customers begin their return at Amazon’s online return center and select the Kohl’s drop-off option. A QR code is then emailed. Customers bring the item that’s being returned to Kohl’s and show the QR code to the associate. Kohl’s then packages and ships the return.

“We are incredibly excited about the potential of this program,” Kohl’s CEO Michelle Gass said in a May earnings call.

“We have found the program to be highly successful in achieving our goals in creating a convenient and easy experience for both Kohl’s and Amazon customers.”

The program has been “rigorously tested” for the past 18 months in Chicago and Los Angeles, and more recently in southeast Wisconsin, Gass said.

“Our testing has shown that we are driving engagement with our existing customers and attracting new and younger customers. This gives us great confidence in rolling it out nationwide in time for our significant back-to-school launch, which begins in July,” she said.

“Our top strategic priority is driving traffic, and this transformational program does just that. It drives customers into our stores, and we are expecting millions to benefit from this service.”
