Last land on Walmart site goes on the market

April 4, 2018

The only remaining land next to the south-side Walmart is on the market.

The property on the southwest corner of 85th Street and Minnesota Avenue has developed quickly since the retailer opened a few years ago.

The land on the market is south of the Reliabank Dakota branch that’s under construction.

An initial listing calls it the Silver Spring Shoppes and envisions a retail center, but there are many options for how the land could develop, according to Raquel Blount of Lloyd Cos., who is marketing the site.

“We can offer affordable flexibility. This could be a more traditional retail center. It could be a junior box or two. It could be a two-story office,” she said.

A construction time line will depend on buyer or tenant interest.

Other projects are underway in the area, including Aldi, which is under construction across the street and opening later this year. Another retail center being built in front of Walmart will include the new restaurant Urban Chislic, also opening later this year.

“We’ve just been so impressed with the sales in the area,” Blount said. “Walmart is experiencing above-projected sales, the surrounding communities have really supported the area, and this is the opportunity to bring even more services to the area.”
