Minnesota-based cycling shop buys Two Wheeler Dealer

Feb. 6, 2019

A Minnesota-based bicycle shop that also sells skis and snowboards has taken over Two Wheeler Dealer.

Erik’s bought the shop at 3315 S. Spring Ave. on Feb. 1, and it will reopen Feb. 8.

“We worked closely with the owners and store managers Kamp Kirsch and Christie Kennelly to ensure we continue with what makes the shop great,” Erik Saltvold, the founder and owner of Erik’s, said in a news release. “The shop name is changing, but you’ll see the same faces. We are so happy that Kamp, Christie and the team will continue to run the shop and provide the excellent customer service the shop is known for.”

The new owner plans to continue events such as the Moon & Stars Ride and support local cycling groups.

Customers will find a few changes, including access to the largest selection of Specialized and Bianchi bikes in the U.S. and the largest selection of Santa Cruz mountain bikes in the Midwest, according to the news release. It also sells electric bikes.

Starting in October, the store will stock skis, snowboards, gear and apparel, and it will service and repair equipment.

Erik’s sells merchandise online at shopERIKS.com, and customers will be able to buy online and pick up an order in the store or have it shipped to them.

“The store will be reopening in the middle of our famous Big Clearance – a preseason cycling clearance sale,” Saltvold said. “Cycling customers will find huge discounts on bikes, cycling apparel and gear.”

Saltvold started in the business in his parents’ barn in 1977 when he was 13. Erik’s has stores in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois and Kansas.
