Edina Realty, the largest residential real estate firm in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, has acquired Hegg Realtors.

Chairman Bill Hegg and CEO Gregg Gohl will continue to lead Hegg’s more than 200 agents in partnership with Edina Realty Home Services president and CEO Greg Mason and Edina Realty president Sharry Schmid, according to a news release.

The South Dakota company, which was founded in 1945 and has offices in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, will maintain its local brand as Hegg Realtors, an Edina Realty company.

“By joining with Edina Realty, we have an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen our depth of services in the South Dakota market,” Gohl said in the news release. “Edina Realty is known for its integrity, financial strength and operational excellence, and we are pleased to be a part of this dynamic organization.

According to the news release, Hegg Realtors had $1.22 billion in sales volume and nearly 4,000 units sold last year. Edina Realty, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate and a wholly-owned subsidiary of HomeServices of America Inc., earned $10.8 billion in sales and had nearly 30,000 closed sales

Mason said Edina Realty is excited about the opportunity to serve South Dakota buyers and sellers and to offer Hegg Realtor agents the expanded support, technology and resources for which Edina Realty is known.
