MK Threads Boutique taps into multichannel sales

Jan. 23, 2018

MK Threads Boutique is approaching its one-year anniversary with a three-pronged approach to sales.

Kelly Grovijahn and Melanie Huston started their business selling women’s fashions as an online shop in March 2017. They also do three or four pop-up shops in their busier months, and the downtown Sioux Falls showroom is open two days a week.

The bricks-and-mortar portion of MK Threads opened in July in a space at the Nordic Hall at 218 W. 13th St., Grovijahn said. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and 3 to 7 p.m. Friday.

“We have a little bit of everything,” she said. “We have plus sizes, trendy wear, business casual and athleisure. We try to dress the woman that’s 30 on up.”

MK Threads gained additional exposure with a weeklong pop-up shop in The Empire Mall during the holiday season. Grovijahn said the kiosk has led to new online shoppers from the region.
