New downtown boutique owner hails from Twin Cities

Jan. 20, 2022

Ondrea Stachel has found one quick way to meet people in her new community: Buy a boutique.

“It’s a good way to get to know people, not being from here, so it’s been fun to get to know people through the store,” said Stachel, whose background is in marketing.

Her husband’s job brought her to Sioux Falls from Minnetonka, Minnesota, last year after living her whole life in the Twin Cities area. A downtown shopping trip connected her to her future business opportunity when she stopped at TH Grey.

“I shopped there all the time,” she said.

The boutique became a client of her marketing consulting firm, and through that process, then-owner Dawn Bures mentioned she’d like to sell it.

“Somehow I ended up buying the store,” Stachel said.

“It’s been awesome, super fun. Dawn was fantastic in helping with the transition. It’s just exciting and looking forward to slowly but surely putting a plan together to help it grow and build more awareness around here and online.”

Trish Tilberg founded the boutique online in 2016 and expanded to the storefront at 330 S. Phillips Ave. the following year.

Stachel was drawn to it by the clothing’s quality that didn’t come with “an insane price point,” she said.

“My whole thing is if customer service is amazing, everybody has a great experience whether they buy something or not. I think they’ll come back. So we want to find loyal customers. That’s a big focus for me and my team. Just making sure everyone who comes in the store has a really good experience and that they’re talking about it.”

She plans to hold a grand opening Saturday, including yoga from Form Fitness from 9 to 10 a.m., coffee and cold brew from The Source Roastery and champagne from Gist Wine Shop with appetizers throughout the day. The store will offer 20 percent off all weekend as part of Crazy Days.

Future events include a Women in Business panel from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Feb. 23.

She also plans to offer the boutique for private shopping parties and personal styling sessions.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
