New First National branch includes modern, flexible design

The First National Bank in Sioux Falls has opened a new east-side branch.

The location at Arrowhead Parkway and Foss Drive is near Aldi and attached to a new Aspen Dental.

“It’s very spacious,” CEO Bill Baker said. “That’s one of the first impressions I get walking in the door. It’s got a lot of innovations in it.”

The branch replaces one at Sixth Street and Sycamore Avenue that turned out to be in a more residential area than originally anticipated.

“Dawley Farms’ growth and housing around there makes it a busy corridor,” bank president Chris Ekstrum said. “We found traditionally our branches with high visibility and high traffic counts perform the best, and this fit all those categories.”

It’s a full-service branch with a flexible design, including what Baker calls state-of-the-art movable walls.

“There’s a great deal of flexible space to plug in a business banker or mortgage originator or trust officer based on an appointment,” he said.

The new location has an intentionally brighter look and feel. A media wall streams the bank’s social media content, weather report and includes features on employees.
