New owner rebrands women’s gym

Feb. 22, 2018

There’s a new owner and a new name for the former Ultimate Fitness for Women, which originally was Tryon Fitness for Her.

Brook VerMeer took over the business at 57th Street and Louise Avenue in the Beakon Centre this month and rebranded it as Evolve Fitness.

“It’s still a women’s-only gym, and we are open 24 hours, so that makes it pretty unique,” she said.

VerMeer, a Realtor, was a frequent member and became friends with the owners at Ultimate Fitness when they offered to sell it to her. She has been a personal trainer for about a year and finds fitness a good complement to real estate. While people tend to buy and sell homes during warmer months, they work out more in colder ones.

“So it was a natural fit,” she said.

She and her husband, Travis Dangel, are working on freshening up the space.

“We’re focusing on some remodeling and updating,” she said. “All our classes are free with membership, and we’ll eventually be adding equipment.”

All memberships transferred over. An eight-week boot camp will start March 5, with grand-opening specials coming in the spring. For information on memberships, visit getevolvefit.com.

“We want it to be an uplifting environment and have everybody feel powerful when they leave here,” VerMeer said.
