New owners make changes at east-side Indian restaurant

Oct. 15, 2019

New owners have taken over the east-side Indian restaurant that used to be Himalayan Indian Cuisine.

Kathmandu Indian Cuisine is the new name for the business at 5310 E. Arrowhead Parkway. It’s now owned by Sharan Gadal and Tikesh Rana, who also is the main chef.

Kathmandu offers traditional Indian menu items, including tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, lamb dishes, mixed veggies, naan and other baked foods.

While much of the menu will be similar to Himalayan’s offerings, the new owners added some dishes, specifically Nepalese options, including dumplings called momo and Nepalese-style chicken chow mein.

There’s also beer and wine available.

A lunch buffet is offered daily from 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and can be purchased as a to-go order. There’s also a lunch menu. The dinner menu is served beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

A grand reopening will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with a 15 percent discount all weekend.

A website will be launching soon with online ordering, but in the meantime customers can place orders for delivery through Food Dudes, Bite Squad and DoorDash.
