New podcast highlights women in leadership

By Helen Conzemius, for SiouxFalls.Business

A Sioux Falls woman has started a podcast to feature local women in leadership.

“Leading Lady” with Sara Lum comes out monthly on iTunes.

“I wanted to focus on women in the Sioux Falls area to show that you don’t have to lead a Fortune 500 company and live in a big city like New York to be an effective leader,” Lum said.

Lum used to teach architecture at SDSU and now works as an architectural designer in Sioux Falls. The idea for the podcast came to Lum after her birthday earlier this year. She wanted to find a way to write for fun and calls herself a “podcast nut,” so she decided to try it.

“The great thing about Sioux Falls is that many people are connected to other people. It gives me the chance to get outside the circle of people I know.”

If she sees something interesting in the news, she will follow the lead, she said.

She already has two dream guests in mind – Becky Hammon, WNBA player from Rapid City, and Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, incoming president of Augustana University.

Lum started working on the podcast in May and has 10 episodes ready to post. To subscribe, find “Leading Lady” with Sara Lum on iTunes. She also posts them on her blog: leadingladypodcast.com/blog.
