Flash back to the ’80s this week for a scary drive and a clean vehicle at the same time.

Silverstar Car Wash’s popular annual haunted wash takes on a 1980s horror flick theme this year.

“Whether you grew up with these classics or you’re introducing them to your kids for the first time, we think you’re going to love your drive through the haunted wash more than ever this year,” operations manager Andrea Vetos said.

“We’re stepping up our game in our fourth year, and, of course, it’s all for a great cause.”

Nightmare at Silverstar will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday only at the 57th Street and Marion Road location.

“And we stay until the last vehicle goes through, so make sure you’re in line in time, and then we’ll make sure you get the full haunted experience,” Vetos said.

New this year, each vacuum area will feature a scene from a 1980s horror film, along with the popular haunted experience through the wash tunnel.

And it’s a bit of everything – from the “Halloween” series led by Michael Myers to “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” “Beetlejuice,” “It,” “Friday the 13th” and “Child’s Play.”

“Our team in Sioux Falls has put so much extra time and effort into creating a fun and memorable event,” Vetos said.

“They’ve spent a solid month brainstorming, planning layouts, building sets and sourcing costumes – in addition to their regular duties and providing amazing service to our guests, so we’re really proud of how this is 100 percent created and supported by our team.”

The haunted wash is free for Silverstar unlimited wash pass members. But it’s also a fundraiser for Feeding South Dakota.

“So we’ll be accepting freewill donations and canned goods,” Vetos said. “Our team loves delivering this event for our members and guests, and we hope they’re inspired to give back while we give them a great scare.”
