This paid piece is sponsored by GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness.
Is 2019 the year you try your first race? Or maybe expand into adventure or obstacle courses? Whether you’re thinking about your first 5K or are a veteran of mud races, GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness is ready to connect you with a group to help.
The racing club meets at 6 p.m. Thursdays at GreatLIFE’s 39th Street and Phillips Avenue location and has plans to grow.
GreatLIFE’s Jeremy Klaassen gave us an idea of what to expect.
How popular is race training at GreatLIFE? Are you seeing increased interest in any one type of race over another?
It is definitely growing in popularity. We have four to six races we host every year within GreatLIFE that people can register for. The interest in obstacle-course racing keeps growing, and we have a new course this year that people can try out.
What if someone has never done a race but is intrigued by the idea of it? Any suggestions for where or how to start?
This club is designed to help someone get started into racing. It is a great way for people to meet others who are in the same spot and have the same goals or were in the same spot and are willing to help.
How does the racing club work? What can people expect if they go?
We currently have a couple of different groups that meet at different times and will be adding more as it gets warmer outside. We meet as a group to see what the workout is, then everyone goes at their own pace before getting together at the end for some group conditioning and stretching. This works for swimming, biking or running.
If you’re an experienced racer, is this club still for you?
Yes, since everyone can go at their own pace, even experienced racers are able to participate in the group. The experienced racer can also help the group with what races he or she had a great time at and what to expect at the races.
The racing club is free and open to GreatLIFE members and non-members. For information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
