Realtor aims to make firm household name

Sept. 25, 2018

This week’s Up-and-Comer is Nick Eichacker, a broker associate with Falls Real Estate.

Name: Nick Eichacker

Age: 30

Hometown: Salem

What brought you to Sioux Falls?

I moved to Sioux Falls after graduating college in 2011 to work with Poet.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

That’s easy: Growth and variety. Sioux Falls is such a dynamic town right now that it seems like every few days we have another restaurant, sports facility or something new and exciting breaking ground right here in our own city. Since I’m the type of person who likes to try new things, the amount of entertainment options expanding into Sioux Falls makes it a very exciting city to live in. Aside from that, with my family farm being in Salem and my wife’s family in Brandon, Sioux Falls is the perfect location for us.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

Making the call to my clients after their offer has been accepted. The sheer excitement, relief and satisfaction as a young couple finds out they just got their first home under contract is honestly one of the things that makes what I do so rewarding.

How did you get connected to your industry? What made you decide to start the business?

In my previous career, I was working as a senior trader for a commodity brokerage company based out of Iowa. At that time, I was renting a small office space downtown in Shriver Square that is owned and managed by Falls Real Estate. Tim Karels, the owner of Falls Real Estate, and I were having a discussion one day about how commodity trading just wasn’t my passion. I did not wake up excited to go to work, and I did not have a true sense of fulfillment when I went home at the end of the day. Over the course of several discussions, I decided to take a leap of faith and start a residential wing under Falls Real Estate with Tim acting as my responsible broker. To this day, I have not looked back even for second. Since branching into residential real estate, we have added two more agents: Spencer Wilcox and Nic Peterson to the team.

Describe Falls Real Estate in three words.

Down to earth.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

Well, since they already announced Great Shots is coming soon, I would have to say a Dave & Buster’s. I feel a D&B would be a great fit in Sioux Falls with all the young families in our city.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Right now, I would consider Falls Real Estate as one of Sioux Falls’ best-kept secrets. In five years, our goal is to be a household name with a reputation for hard work and professionalism.
