Remodeled convenience store adds food, plans grand re-opening  

The 49er gas station and convenience store has a new look and a new menu.

The store, one block east of 49th Street and Louise Avenue, has been owned by Stern Oil Co. Inc. for several years, according to

“We are excited to be part of the retail business community and look forward to giving back to the community,” president Scott Stern said in a statement.

As part of the transition, an expanded menu has been started featuring breakfast pizza, baked goods and pizza, including by the slice.

“They refreshed the interior and exterior of the building with all new paint and signage and updated some product displays to have a very clean feeling when you walk in,” said David Vanden Hull, who handles the company’s public relations through his business, NuRev Group.

A grand opening Sept. 6 will include a fundraiser for Rock Steady Boxing at The Inn on Westport. Twenty-five cents for every gallon of gas sold from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. will benefit the program. The 49er offers Mobil gasoline products.

There also will be free coffee from 6 to 9 a.m., free lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring Uncle Ed’s Specialty Meats pork loin sandwiches, and giveaways and door prizes throughout the day.
