Restaurant Roundup: CurderBurger’s return, $3 lattes, new daily specials

What started as an April Fool’s joke on social media and became reality a year ago as a limited-time menu offering is back at Culver’s. The CurderBurger is back until the end of the month or as long as supplies last. Culver’s created a patty-sized cheese curd that goes on a Deluxe ButterBurger. Only 136,000 CurderBurgers were available last year, and some restaurants sold out within two hours, the chain reported.

Dunn Brothers Coffee at 8220 W. 12th St. is having its grand-opening Monday and Tuesday. Get a medium latte for $3 or a brewed coffee for 50 cents. Register to win free coffee for a year by downloading and using the app.

Coffee shop, day care kick off lakefront west-side development

Red Rock Bar & Grill in Rowena has new lunch specials for fall and winter. Monday is a quarter-pound cheeseburger, Tuesday is a hot beef sandwich, Wednesday is a pulled pork sandwich, Thursday is a hot turkey sandwich, and Friday is a steak sandwich. All meals come with a side and a drink and are $7.99, except for the steak sandwich, which is $9.99. They’re served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

MacKenzie River Pizza, Pub & Grill has a new Tuesday special. Get $5 off a small pizza and pint of your choice. Other daily specials are the same. Monday is 50 percent off the Mack Lovin’ dessert with a $10 purchase. Wednesday is Lunch With a Friend, which is buy one Rod & Reel combo and get the second for half-price. Thursday is 20 percent off any flatbread.

Kingbird Coffee Shop in Brandon is adding coffee and noncoffee flights starting Saturday. The fall flight flavors will be offered through November. The coffee board includes mocha, iced apple crisp latte, hot pumpkin spice miel and iced raspberry white mocha. The noncoffee board features apple crisp chai, strawberry steamer, blue raspberry Lotus energy drink and Herbal Mist, which includes tea and steamed milk. The coffee shop also has started serving ham or sausage breakfast sandwiches.

Kabab King at 1609 E. 10th St. has new BOGO offerings for the rest of the year. On Tuesdays, buy one sandwich and get one free. There’s everything from a falafel and gyro sandwiches to the Mediterranean KK Burger and the Original KK Burger. On Thursdays, buy one platter, such as kabab or shawarma, and get one free. And with the cooler weather, lentil soup is back on the menu.

Chef Lance’s on Phillips, which won September’s Downtown Pork Showdown, is keeping the winning dish on the menu through October. The ribs and grits meal is available for lunch and dinner.

Autumn features have arrived at the Phillips Avenue Diner. The Harvest Salad features roasted Fuji apples, and there’s a caramel apple shake to go with your meal or serve as dessert. Other offerings include a tavern, shrimp and grits, and spaghetti and meatballs.

Urban Chislic has a new special on wings for football weekends. Get unlimited traditional wings for $24 with a choice of sauce for each order. The restaurant has 18 flat screens and one 12-foot projector for watching college football and also has NFL Ticket.

Soups have arrived at the new ‘Brosia Bowl in the Jones421 Building. Get the plant-based, vegan offerings by the cup, bowl or in a combo with a salad. Flavors will rotate, but initial choices have included pumpkin chili and butternut squash bisque.

Soup Mondays are back at Obscure Brewing Co. Each Monday night, the east-side brewery will feature a different soup. This week’s offering was a beer cheese soup made with Obscure’s Big Chain IPA. Chili also has returned to the daily menu.

SoDak Soda has added gourmet hot chocolate to the menu. Go simple with Ghiradelli Sweet Cocoa and Chocolate or Ghiradelli Sweet White Chocolate. Some of the seasonal flavors include hazelnut, butter pecan, English toffee, Irish cream and, of course, pumpkin spice.

Rudy M. Navarrete’s Tex-Mexican Catering is hosting its fifth annual campaign to buy new tennis shoes for kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire. Navarrete will be serving the Taco Bus menu at six breweries and tasting rooms this month. Proceeds and extra donations will be used to buy brand-name shoes.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Blue Rock Bar & Grill and Great Shots are donating $1 of every item ordered from its Pink Drinks & Sweets menus to the Edith Sanford Breast Center.

PepperJax Grill is celebrating its 20th anniversary with throwback pricing. On Oct. 20, get your favorite grilled-to-order Philly for $4.99 with the purchase of a drink. If you order through the app, use code 2002.

Slim Chickens has a new offer to recognize students and teachers for their hard work. They get 20 percent off their meals on Tuesdays.

On, Oct. 20, Sunny’s Pizzeria is dedicating its “Sioux Falls Wall of Notability” mural, which features Mr. Bendo, Captain 11, lawyer Scott Hoy and other notable figures in the city’s more recent history. Artist Wyatt Dickson will be there to sign prints of the mural, and there will be a summary of the inductees on the wall, which is on the north side of the building along 26th Street at Walts Avenue. The ribbon-cutting starts at 6 p.m. A social event starts at 6:40 p.m. with $3 off large pizzas, $3.50 “Mystery Beers” and $1 off tap beers. Honorees will get free pizza and drinks.

Noodles & Company has expanded a test of Impossible Orange Chicken Lo Mein to restaurants nationwide. The dish features Impossible panko-crusted chicken-like protein made from plants, along with snap peas, napa and red cabbage, green onions, black sesame seeds and cilantro on a bed of Asian-style noodles in orange sauce. There’s also a new LEANguini Rosa with Impossible chicken. According to Noodles, LEANguini dishes offer 44 percent lower net carbs and 50 percent more protein. Customers also can add the Impossible chicken to any dish.

Wileys is hosting a Cans 4 Community food drive until the week before Thanksgiving. Donate four nonperishable items and get a free drink. The limit is one offer per day.

Arby’s has kicked off its annual #MakeADifferenceCampaign. Donate $1 to support youth in the community, and get a coupon for free fries and a cup of cheddar to redeem at your next visit.

Changes in hours, service

  • Giliberto’s Mexican Taco Shop on Sertoma Avenue, which was the scene of an early morning shooting Oct. 2, has changed its operations. It’s still open daily, but new hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the lobby and 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. for the drive-thru.
  • Sunday is the final day of the season for the B&G Milkyways in Tea and Brandon.
  • PAve is no longer open on Sundays.
  • Critters Bar in Crooks has added Sunday hours. It opens at 2 p.m. and closes around 8 p.m. There’s also a Sunday special: Get a large pizza and a bucket of six domestic beers for $25.
  • Sioux Valley Grille in Canton will be closed Oct.16-25 because of staffing and maintenance work.
