Restaurant Roundup: Pheasant chislic returns, Thai menu, dive bar crawl

Oct. 17, 2019

The state bird has turned into the state nosh again at Urban Chislic. The restaurant near 85th and Minnesota is featuring pheasant chislic to celebrate the opening weekend of the hunting season. A limited supply was added to the menu today.

WoodGrain Brewing Co.’s third annual Halloween candy and beer pairing event is Oct. 24. The menu hasn’t been released yet, but here’s a look at some of the sampling that was going on earlier this month. The taproom at Ninth and Phillips opens at 3 p.m.

Curious about the menu at Pho Thai? The restaurant opened Oct. 11 in downtown’s Shriver Square. It’s open every day but Sunday. Here’s a look at some of the choices.

If you love dive bars, here’s an excuse to wander into a few of the “finest” in Sioux Falls. The Fall Dive Bar Pub Crawl is Saturday. Wander at your leisure to the seven bars and pick up a poker card at each location. Turn in your best hand at any bar for a chance to win prizes. Draw an ace at any bar and get a free Bud Light. Participating bars are Corner Pub, Detour Bar, The Garage, Hi Ho Tavern, Jono’s, Ken’s Korner and Log Cabin.

TC’s Referee Sports Bar & Grill at 26th and Marion has introduced a new menu of daily lunch specials. The featured item is $5.99 and is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

The far-traveling On the Hook Fish & Chips food truck will be in Sioux Falls on Friday. The truck, which serves fried Alaskan cod, will be at Sun N Fun Specialty Sports’ new location at 3600 W. 43rd St. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Strawbale Winery has rescheduled its Harvest Festival for Saturday, which should be a beautiful day compared with the snowy day last Saturday! From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the winery north of Sioux Falls, there will be wine, music, food trucks, games, activities, vendors and discounts on six-packs of wine. Admission is free.

Granite City Food & Brewery’s Monster Mash Bash is Oct. 24. It’s a party for parents and kids that runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. There’s a costume contest, music and “plenty of candy.” On Oct. 29, the restaurant on South Louise Avenue is hosting a “Stranger Things” trivia contest. There will be two rounds of questions based on the popular Netflix series and two rounds of Halloween trivia. The event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will be drink specials and prizes.

Looking for a sweet treat? Papa Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza in the Jones421 Building downtown has added dessert nachos to the menu. They’re cinnamon and sugar wontons with melted chunks of Snickers and marshmallows, a drizzle of chocolate syrup and dollop of Cool Whip that’s sprinkled with M&Ms.

Denny’s is offering free delivery through Sunday with a $5 minimum purchase. Order at dennys.com.
