Restaurant Roundup: Popeyes’ popular sandwich returns, ‘fall back’ prices, daily ice cream deals

Oct. 31, 2019

If you didn’t get to try Popeyes’ popular chicken sandwich when it was introduced this summer and then disappeared from the menu because demand outstripped supply, you’ll have another chance starting Sunday. The $3.99 sandwich features a buttermilk-battered fillet that’s deep fried, barrel-cured pickles and regular or spicy mayo on a brioche bun.

Have you ever wanted to crash a wedding party? Here’s your chance! R Wine Bar is hosting a wedding from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday, and the bride and groom are inviting anyone who wants to come. They’re also encouraging people to wear Halloween costumes. There will be a cash bar, food, a DJ and karaoke at the wine bar on East Eighth Street. The couple is using the special day as a fundraiser for Reach Literacy and Feeding South Dakota.

With the “fall back” to standard time, The Pickle Barrel is celebrating its customers and “falling back” to prices on a “super awesome retro menu we scrounged up from 2004ish.” The offer is good on half-sandwiches Wednesday at the restaurant in Park Ridge Galleria at 26th and Western.

Daily Clean Food and Drink has added power bowls to its breakfast menu, which is available all day. There are two options and each comes with your choice of greens or quinoa and eggs or black beans. Nourish comes with sweet potato rounds, guacamole, red onion and roasted bell pepper, and Prana has tomato, butternut squash, cucumber, feta and chickpeas. The restaurant in The Wedge retail center near 69th and Western also has switched to winter hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

If a biscuits and gravy breakfast is more your style, Baltic Corner is serving breakfast every other Saturday starting this week. From 7 to 11 a.m., diners can order eggs, bacon, sausage, ham biscuits and gravy, hash browns, pancakes and French toast.

Stensland Family Farms has added weekday specials at the east- and west-side locations. Sundae Monday: $4 sundaes. Toasty Tuesday: $3 hot chocolate floats Cookie Worthy Wednesday: $6 for two ice cream sandwich cookies. Thirsty Thursday: $3 ice cream floats. Farm Fresh Fridays continue with deals on milk, cheese, cheese curds, ice cream quarters and ground beef.

Are you missing camping season already? RedRossa Napoli Pizza has a limited-time menu item that can help. The restaurant at 42nd and Western has created a s’mores dessert pizza.
