Sanford presents at Nobel Peace Prize Forum

From staff reports

Members of the Sanford World Clinic team participated in the Nobel Peace Prize Forum recently alongside Barbara Bush, co-founder and CEO of Global Health Corps, who has worked with Sanford in Ghana.

The forum at Augsburg University in Minneapolis is the only Nobel event held outside of Stockholm, Sweden, and Oslo, Norway.

Sanford co-presented on heath care and peace building in Africa.

In addition to the daughter of former President George W. Bush, the panel discussion included Ann Mays, senior director of clinical services at Sanford World Clinic, and Katie Jauert Jess, director of operations at Sanford Clinic, as well as Ray Yip, special adviser to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; Amy Finnegan, University of St. Thomas and SocMed; and Sylvia Bartley, global director of Medtronic Philanthropy.

The panel allowed Sanford an opportunity to share best practices in health care operations and systems development related to its 20-clinic network in Ghana.

“We were proud and honored to have the opportunity to consider best practices and share our team’s impactful work in Ghana with such esteemed panel members,” said Jim Slack, vice president, Sanford World Clinic.

Sanford is in the process of developing up to 300 clinics in Ghana. The relationship with Global Health Corps came through philanthropist Denny Sanford. GHC places professionals in Africa and the U.S. through paid fellowships to help organizations improve health care access and outcomes.
