Scooter’s Coffee coming to northwest Sioux Falls

Scooter’s Coffee plans to open a new drive-thru location in northwest Sioux Falls.
It will be along Marion Road directly across from the main entrance to Jefferson High School and is part of Jefferson Heights, a new 190-acre development on the southwest corner of Marion and Maple Street, between the high school and McGovern Middle School.
This Scooter’s will be similar to the coffee chain’s other drive-thru kiosks in the city, with the addition of a patio for outdoor seating, said owners Travis and Kristen Rhoades. It’s their ninth location in the Sioux Falls market, including one in Brandon.
The first Sioux Falls Scooter’s near 57th Street and Western Avenue is owned by another franchisee.
“We have been eyeing the northwest part of town for a few years,” Travis Rhoades said, adding he was attracted by the strong growth in the area and the new high school.
“We hope to catch some new customers who don’t currently have an opportunity to drive by a Scooter’s on their morning commute, and we think it will be convenient to be close to several educational institutions and large employers.”
The northwest location has been a long time coming, said Ryan Tysdal of Van Buskirk Cos., who represents Scooter’s in Sioux Falls.
“We’ve been scouting for the right opportunity in this part of the city for quite a while,” he said. “We get constant requests from residents in the area, so we’re happy to finally bring them great coffee close to home.”
Scooter’s will be on the corner of Teem Street and Marion Road, which is planned to be an intersection with a traffic signal.
There is an acre of commercial land for sale next to Scooter’s. “It’s a great opportunity for the right fast-food operator or maybe a car wash,” Tysdal added.
Construction is planned to start in 2022.
Rhoades is currently working on his next location and said he expects to make that announcement later this year.
