Shopping, snacking and crafting: What to expect at the 605 Made Holiday Market

Dec. 6, 2019

Take care of holiday shopping, support local makers and take in a one-of-a-kind pop-up shop at the 605 Made Holiday Market on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The market will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the underground parking area at Cherapa Place, which is on the east side of the Big Sioux River between Sixth and Eighth streets. Admission is free.

The 605 Made Holiday Market is sponsored by The First National Bank in Sioux Falls, Nyberg’s Ace and the South Dakota Retailers Association and co-organized by SiouxFalls.Business and Knotty Gnome Variety & Salvage.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Safe Families for Children, Eastern South Dakota.

Along with work from nearly 60 makers, here’s what else you can expect at the event:

Make-and-take

There’s a crafter in all of us! Stop by the DIY workshop to create a personalized ornament with help from maker Mama Peacock.

Tech tools

Technology has created so many new makers, including those who work with 3D printing. We’ll host a group of students from Southeast Tech who used 3D printers, a laser and a CNC router to create ornaments and gift items. The funds raised will be used for tours and to purchase equipment used by the student organization.

Sip and snack

Ode to Food & Drink will be part of the market, and you don’t even have to leave the parking garage.

Pick up a pulled pork sandwich and chips for lunch, or partake in a beverage. There will be Fernson and Crow Peak beer, wine, mimosas, sangria and shots of Baileys or RumChata for coffee.

Plus, pick up coffee from Scooter’s and a sweet treat from Flyboy Donuts at a booth from the Family Visitation Center.

And, of course, there’s the shopping. Take a look at the complete lineup of nearly 60 makers whose work will be sold at the market:
