Silicon Valley startup leader to visit Sioux Falls

By Jodi Schwan

A Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor will spend a week in Sioux Falls this month learning about the startup scene and offering advice to entrepreneurs.

Paul Singh has raised tens of millions of dollars and invested in hundreds of companies in the past five years.

He recently downsized to an Airstream Classic travel trailer to visit places where startups actually start as part of the Results Junkies Tech Tour.

“The real goal of the Tech Tour is to bring functional expertise and venture capital dollars to parts of North America that don’t regularly get the same amount of attention as the well-known tech hubs,” he said.

“This tour isn’t just for companies that want to raise VC money or tech startups trying to be the next ‘Uber for this or Uber for that.’ We want brick-and-mortar businesses, too, and those who are working on their own entrepreneurial dream. It’s important to realize that technology is so interwoven into business that every startup or entrepreneur needs to understand how to make it work for them.”

When Will Bushee, co-founder of Code Bootcamp, heard about the tour, he pledged funds to make Sioux Falls a stop. Singh will be in town April 24-29 with events at the Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship, The Bakery and meetings with local investors, entrepreneurs and college students.

“My reason for inviting Paul and the other investors that are visiting along with him to Sioux Falls was to promote what we have done well and encourage more technology growth in our community,” Bushee said.
