South Dakota ranked first in “back-to-normal” recovery report

South Dakota is outperforming every other state in its post-pandemic recovery.
A “back-to-normal” index compiled by CNN and Moody’s Analytics puts the state’s economy at 111 percent of its level in March 2020.
The national average is 92 percent.
The index is comprised of 37 national and seven state-level indicators. The index ranges from zero, representing no economic activity, to 100%, representing the economy returning to its pre-pandemic level in March 2020.
The next closest states to South Dakota are Idaho and Nebraska at 103 percent.
