Sioux Falls bicycle shop Spoke-N-Sport is expanding to Brookings.

The store will open Oct. 6 at 503 N. Main St.

“We are thrilled to serve the Brookings community,” owner Chad Pickard said. “There is a lot of growth that surrounds cycling in the town and the area.”

The store will be open six days a week and offer new bicycles and gear, custom bike fitting and service on all bikes. Brands include Giant, Trek and Salsa.

Brookings has increasingly become a more bike-friendly community, Pickard said. Within the past year, the city was named a Bronze Bicycle Friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists, the Brookings Mountain Bike Association opened a new single-track trail, and the city enacted a long-range bicycle master plan.
