Citing changing consumer preferences, StarMark Cabinetry has cut 42 jobs in Sioux Falls.

As customers shift toward more value-based pricing decisions and a more simple design style, that has had a negative impact on the business, which is part of Indiana-based MasterBrand Cabinets Inc.

“Our business remains solid and has us meeting our financial commitments,” the company said in a statement.

“These are difficult decisions to carry out but necessary in our current business climate.”

StarMark employs about 550 workers at its Sioux Falls plant, which is based at 600 E. 48th St. N. Of those, 481 are in production and the rest work in office jobs.
